Like many citizens I read The Beacon and I have to say I think the fact they publish D Dawson’s racist rubbish is a tribute to what a local community paper should be about.

We need to know who the racist trouble-makers are and we need to know what they think and how affected by our racist leaders they are.

Well done to The Beacon for exposing this on a regular basis.

But there is also the other side, the people who are not racist and are not sucked in by the political opportunists who foment racist division.

Dawson’s almost literate diatribe’s probably show why freedom of speech is important – we need to know who the haters are, but also we need to be able to counter their ignorant rants with reasoned arguments.

And today we got that.

Well done to The Beacon.
