NZIER found this reduced cost on councils.

“Local government is committed to delivering infrastructure and services that New Zealanders expect and deserve. We are also committed to reducing any unnecessary burden on ratepayers, especially when it doesn’t add value for our communities,” Campbell Barry said.

Alongside unfunded rules and responsibilities from central government, a report from Infometrics in March 2024 found councils have also had huge cost increases for infrastructure like roads and pipes, and ballooning insurance costs.

Ratepayers anger is legitimate, but coalition aligned rhetoric designed to hide the real causes is only helping the people who are behind the causes of our rates hikes.
Links to the reports are in the comments.

Read the Infometrics March 2024 report here

Read the NZIER report here

My coalition aligned opponents are forever finding new electoral promises that they say will reduce our rates, but they never cost them.

In reality they’re just regurgitating decades old neoliberal nonsense that, at the end of the day, just hands over public assets to private enterprise operators.

Our holiday park, something that is central . . . → Read More: Government In Wellington Are Treating Ratepayers Like A Bottomless ATM

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[120,122

124
post-251","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-election-25","category-news-clippings","series-dave-for-council","odd
https://exposures.co.nz/wp-content/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting/assets/images/no-album-art.png

Government In Wellington Are Treating Ratepayers Like A Bottomless ATM

/* */
/*!
